Education and Professional Background

  • Possess Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering
  • Currently Employed with the Maryland State Highway Administration as a Division Chief

 

Community Involvement

  • Served in 2005 – 2006 as President of the Council of Ewe Associations of North America (CEANA)
  • Served Two (2) Terms as Chairman of the Volta Club, Inc., (now known as the Volta Association of Washington Metro Area).
  • Currently Serving as Representative for the Volta Association of Washington Metro Area on the CEANA Council of Representatives
  • Led a team of able Ewes in Washington Metro Area in Hosting one of the most successful and celebrated CEANA Conventions of all times
  • Actively recruited new members hence significantly growing the new memberships list  for the Volta Association of Washington Metro Area while serving as Chairman,
  • Served on the Investment and Fundraising Committee for CEANA
  • Placed the Volta Association of Washington Metro Area on sound financial grounds while serving as Chairman

  • Bachelor of Science Network and Communications Management
  • Currently employed by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as an Information Security Specialist, Cyber Security Dept. Prior assignments includes: IT Specialist and a Supervisor.
  • Currently serving as the President of The Association for the Improvement of Minorities in the IRS (AIM-WV Chapter) and a Representative on AIM Regional Council.
  • Prior to joining the IRS, served in the private sector in a variety of positions: Test Engineer, Executive Assistant, Internal Quality Systems Auditor, Reliability Test Coordinator, and as a Quality Systems Supervisor.

Community Involvement

  • Served Two Terms as the Vice President of Ewe Association of Dallas Metro.
  • Served Two Terms as a Representative for the Ewe Association of Dallas Metro on the CEANA Council of Representatives (COR).
  • Played an integral role in the planning and hosting of the unforgettable 2002 CEANA Convention in Dallas.
  • Actively recruited new members for the Ewe Association of Dallas. Arbitrated and counseled members with domestic and family problems.
  • Served as the lead dancer, instructor of various drumming rhythms and an active member for the Ewe Multicultural Association of Ontario, (EMAO) and later joined the Ewe-Canadian Cultural Org. of Ontario (ECCOO) in the same capacity.
  • Served as Chair for CEANA Website Committee – Oversaw the design, creation and updates of the site for 3 years.
  • Served on the Fundraising Committee for CEANA
  • Have attended almost all CEANA Conventions – most recent attendance were those held in Dallas – Texas, New York/ New Jersey,
  • Currently Member of the Multimedia Team at the Asbury United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown, WV.

 Public Relations Officer (PRO) of CEANA Secretariat

I am a Master Automobile Technician and have worked many years in the automobile industry. I am currently employed by Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) as a Bus Maintenance Technician. I hold many certifications in Automobile and Diesel Technologies as well as Clean Hybrid Electric Drives.
In the last 13 years working for MTA, I have served on various Transit Maintenance Advisory Committees. At the 2004 and 2005 Bus Buys, I served as an inspector for MTA at New Flyer Plant in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
Also, I participated in Bus Maintenance Rodeo Competitions of which I hold many distinctions.
I am currently an active member of the Volta Association of Washington Metro Area. I have played an active role in organizing various events for the Volta Association of Washington Metro Area. One major event I actively participated in organizing was the 2005 CEANA Convention which was hosted by the Volta Association of Washington. I was the co-chairman for the Transportation Committee. This committee was responsible for all the transportation logistics and needs for all participants of the convention.
I have attended various CEANA Conventions. The most recent ones which were held in Atlanta, Georgia (2009); Dallas, Texas (2008); Ho, Ghana (2007); New York/New Jersey (2006); Washington, DC (2005).
I am also an active member of the Dzodze Penyi Association of North America.

 Financial Secretary of CEANA Secretariat

Johnson K. Awumah hails from Leklebi and Kpedze in the Volta Region. Johnson attended Kpedze Secondary School and St. Paul’s secondary school at Denu,
Johnson went on to study at Economics/Informatics at University of National and World Economy in Sofia, Bulgaria where he obtained his Master of Science degree in Economics/Informatics. Johnson continued his education in the USA at Louisiana State University where he obtained a Master of Science in Library and Information Science (1993) and also a Master of Computer Systems Science (1995).         
 Johnson has worked with in a capacity as Systems Technology Librarian at Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA., and at various Fortune 500 Companies in the USA as a Software Engineer.
He has also held the position of Financial Secretary for the LUNA – Leklebi Union of North America and Vice President of KUNA - Kpedze Union of North America, which has its members also in CEANA member organizations
Johnson is married and has two children, a son and a daughter.
Johnson has also attended various CEANA Conventions; the most recent ones which were held in Washington, DC (2005); New York/New Jersey (2006); Ho, Ghana (2007).

 Treasurer of CEANA Secretariat

 

I am currently an employee of the Embassy of Ghana in Washington DC, since 2004. I am the Chief Revenue Collector.
I hold Higher National Diploma (H. N. D.) in Accounting from Ho Polytechnic.
I served for twenty years in the Ghana Army and retired voluntarily with the rank of Sergeant (from 1983 to 2003). While in the Army, I served in the United Nations Peace Keeping Missions in Lebanon for four tours and LIBERIA for three tours.

I am married three children.

Education Background:
I attended the Ho Polytechnic from 1998 to 2001.
I attended the Ho Technical from 1987 to 1989.
I attended the Koforidua Moses School of Accountancy from 1980 to 1983.
My early education was at the Ateibu L/A Middle School from 1973 to1977.

I joined Volta Club in August of 2009 and have been an active member with my annual membership dues paid in full in advance.
My first CEANA Convention attendance was in 2009 in Atlanta, GA and I have already been awarded Six Stars in the CEANA STAR Club.
